Auto Maintenance to Get Ready for a Summertime Road Trip

As summer weather heats up across a reopening nation, it's very tempting to hit the open road and explore this country's great attractions. But before you jump in your car and head for the highway, it's important to make sure that your vehicle is ready to handle long drives in blazing heat. At Chuck's Auto Repair, our local mechanics can expertly complete any type of maintenance that your vehicle needs before you embark on your journey.

Important Road Trip Auto Maintenance Tasks

When the sun turns scorching, you'll be thankful you took certain maintenance measures to keep the heat in check. With AC service, we'll check over your AC system and make sure all components are working well. During periods of sweltering heat, a properly functioning AC system will play a central role in keeping your family at a safe temperature and in good spirits. Another important maintenance task that'll help regulate the heat is cooling system service. We'll make sure that all aspects of your cooling system are working strongly and that you're driving with the right amount of clean coolant. This will substantially reduce the risk of overheating causing major engine trouble, such as a cracked block.

Prior to heading out, you'll want to be sure that your car is ready to keep you safe. When you visit us for brake service, we'll inspect your braking system, install new pads if necessary, and lubricate any parts that need it. If we find any serious brake trouble, we can repair that too, and would be happy to give you an estimate in advance. It's also a good idea to check tire pressure before heading out. Generally, tire pressure needs to be at a point between 30 and 35 psi. To be sure you're inflating your tires properly, you'll want to check your tires exact pressure requirement. Another easy safety task is to change out old wiper blades. When a summertime thunderstorm starts pouring buckets over the roadway, your new wiper blades will provide you better visibility.
